In partnership with The Nederland Area Trails Organization (NATO), the BNC is in the process of submitting an application to the United States Forest Service for a special permit in order to groom approved corridors at West Mag. sometime during the 2017-18 season. As conditions allow, the grooming would provide for skate technique (freestyle) and classic technique skiing (diagonal stride), snowshoeing, and fat biking.
The partnership allows the BNC to demonstrate feasibility and, more importantly, bring support to NATO’s desire to maintain long-term grooming operations at West Mag. Over the next several months, the BNC and NATO will continue to finalize the application to the USFS with the intention of obtaining permission to groom on some basis during the next winter season.
In the case that the BNC is allowed to groom at West Mag., the possible disruption to grooming operations at North Boulder Park and CU South will be managed so that it is minimal.
